7.5m Wide, 5-Panel Folding Door: How We Delivered the Impossible With 75-Series Profile

When clients dream of a seamless, 7.5-meter-wide glass wall with folding doors, the industry usually says “no” to slim 75-series profiles. Standard practice limits 75-series panels to just 900mm wide to avoid sagging, forcing customers to upgrade to expensive 80/120-series profiles that double costs.
We took on the challenge—and delivered a custom 7.5m wide, 5-panel 75-series folding door with 1500mm panels, breaking the rules without breaking the budget.

The Challenge: 7.5m of 75-Series Door, No Compromises

This project required a full 7.5-meter opening with five folding panels, each measuring 1500mm wide. For the 75-series profile:
  • Industry standard limit: 900mm per panel. Wider panels risk frame flex, sagging hinges, and binding tracks.
  • The obvious solution: Upgrade to 80 or 120-series profiles, which are thicker and stronger—but nearly double the cost for the client.
  • The client’s priority: Keep the sleek, slimline look of the 75-series, while ensuring long-term reliability for the oversized door.
A 7.5m 5-panel system puts extreme stress on every component: even a small sag in one panel would throw the entire system out of alignment, causing operational issues and future maintenance headaches.

Our Solution: Reinforced Engineering, Not Overpriced Profiles

Instead of pushing the client to upgrade, our engineering team focused on strengthening the existing 75-series design to handle the load. Here’s how we did it:
  1. Thickened, Reinforced Corner Brackets

We upgraded every corner joint with heavy-duty, thickened angle codes. These brackets lock the aluminum frame into a rigid box structure, eliminating flex at the joints—the #1 cause of sagging in wide panels.

  2. Heavy-Duty Top and Bottom Tracks

We installed reinforced, weight-rated hanging and bottom tracks, designed to support the full weight of the 1500mm panels across the entire 7.5m span. This prevents binding and ensures smooth, synchronized operation of all five panels.

  3. Precision Load Distribution

Our engineers carefully calculated the weight balance between the top hanging track and bottom support track for each of the five panels. By distributing the load evenly across the entire system, we eliminated stress points that cause premature wear, sagging, and alignment issues.

The Result: 7.5m of Panoramic View, Zero Compromises

The final door exceeded every expectation:

Full 7.5m opening with five 1500mm wide panels, creating a seamless, unobstructed view when open.

No profile upgrade needed, keeping costs far below what 80/120-series doors would have required.

Zero sagging or alignment issues, thanks to our reinforced hardware and load-balanced design.

Smooth, synchronized operation across all five panels, even with the oversized span.

The client got the sleek, modern look they wanted, with the peace of mind that the door won’t cause maintenance headaches down the line. It’s proof that custom engineering beats forced upgrades every time.
